Underground Transmission Line (Third Section)

Backed by deep engineering expertise, we deliver critical infrastructure, from metros, roads and bridges to advanced water treatment, connecting communities and supporting a more resilient future.

The underground transmission line begins at the Taichung Power Plant and runs beneath a major arterial road.

Powering the Future of Taichung

The growing energy demands of Taichung require a modern approach to power distribution that balances efficiency with urban preservation. By moving critical high voltage infrastructure beneath the surface, the city can strengthen its energy grid without impacting the skyline or disrupting the bustling life above.

This 345kV underground transmission line represents our eighth major project in Taiwan and our second significant venture into power infrastructure. Building on the success of our previous work with the Taiwan Power Company, we continue to deliver essential utilities that form the backbone of the region's development.

The project involves a complex array of civil engineering and mechanical systems designed to house the cable network safely underground. We are constructing a 3,208m cable tunnel that requires a diverse set of engineering methodologies. To navigate the specific geological conditions of the route, our team utilises a combination of tunnel boring machines, pipe jacking, and open cut techniques.

This technical precision is supported by the construction of four strategic shafts along the alignment. Delivered through a 50:50 partnership with FengShun Construction Co., Ltd., the project ensures that the latest E&M systems are integrated seamlessly into the tunnel structure. These works provide the necessary cooling, ventilation, and monitoring systems required for a high voltage transmission network of this scale.

  • Extra high voltage underground transmission line serving as a critical energy link for the Taichung region.
  • 3,156m cable tunnel utilising TBM, 50m of pipe jacking, 410m of open cut construction method.
  • Comprehensive civil engineering scope including four shafts and auxiliary E&M systems.
  • A 50:50 partnership with FengShun Construction Co., Ltd. for the Taiwan Power Company.
