DT Infrastructure to deliver Battery Energy Storage System for Lightsource bp

DT Infrastructure (DTI) is excited to announce that it has been awarded the contract to construct the DC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the Goulburn River solar farm, currently being delivered by DTI for Lightsource bp.
The new 49 MW/562 MWh BESS is a critical piece for the solar farm project that, when complete, will power approximately 225,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 910,000 tonnes each year.
“With the inclusion of the BESS, the Goulburn River solar farm will be able to discharge stored energy for over 8 hours during the overnight demand periods, improving grid stability,” said Con Boutsikakis, DTI NSW Operations Manager.
“DTI are proud to be delivering this critical component of the project for Lightsource bp, ensuring reliable and affordable renewable energy generation for the region.”
Adam Pegg, Chief Operating Officer for Asia-Pacific at Lightsource bp commented: “This is a pivotal milestone for Lightsource bp globally, marking the delivery of our first DC-coupled battery and reflecting the outstanding work of our team. Reaching this stage on the Goulburn River battery is much more than a construction milestone – it shows how firmed renewables have moved from concept to a critical component of Australia’s energy future.”
The new BESS will be comprised of 112 individual battery units and will be delivered alongside the construction of the solar farm, with assets scheduled for energisation by late 2026.
