Located near Biloela on the traditional lands of the Gaangalu Nation People, a landmark development is set to actively accelerate Australia’s renewable energy transition. DT Infrastructure will deliver the Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap Solar Power Stations in Central Queensland, Australia as the principal contractor for Edify Energy.
Representing a monumental total contract sum of RM3.12 billion (AUD1.1 billion), this dual-site development fundamentally reinforces our growing, strategic role in delivering the large-scale sustainable energy infrastructure required to decarbonise the national grid.
Engineering a Resilient Renewable Grid
Executing one of Queensland’s most significant renewable energy developments requires a comprehensive, end-to-end approach. Targeted for completion by the end of 2028, DT Infrastructure is managing the full project lifecycle, delivering the design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning works, alongside ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) services to ensure long-term asset reliability.
As the main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, DT Infrastructure is also responsible for delivering the core project scope, which includes:
This infrastructure is meticulously designed to do far more than simply generate power; it is engineered to sustain the region's industrial future while driving green ambitions.
Once fully operational, these power stations are expected to generate an immense 1,589,000 MWh of renewable energy annually. This consistent output will supply reliable, clean power directly to the regional network, crucially support Rio Tinto’s long-term industrial energy requirements, and make a significant contribution to Queensland’s broader decarbonisation targets.

As the main Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, DT Infrastructure is also responsible for delivering the core project scope, which includes:
- Massive Generation & Storage: Delivering a combined 720 MWp of high-capacity solar generation, seamlessly paired with a massive 600 MW / 2,400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
- Cutting-Edge Integration: Utilising advanced DC-coupled hybrid configurations and state-of-the-art grid-forming inverter technology to actively enhance network stability and securely manage large-scale renewable integration.
- Delivering all civil works within the facility, including the site benching required to support the project’s transmission network service provider (TNSP), Powerlink.
- Constructing a new 33kV/275kV substation, including two 370MVA step-up power transformers.
- Installing tracker system structures.
- Delivering all the electrical infrastructure to integrate the facility and all temporary works.
- Installing fencing and site establishment infrastructure.
- Operating and maintaining the facility and its assets for two years.
