Across the vibrant landscapes of Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis, a monumental shift in national connectivity has been realised. Working in close partnership with the Ministry of Transport, we have successfully fulfilled the Malaysian Government’s vision to drastically reduce the nation's heavy reliance on road transport by delivering a highly efficient, high-speed inter-city railway called the Electrified Double Track Project (EDTP).

Delivering a sprawling 329 km rail network across four states is a significant engineering and logistical feat. To navigate this immense geographical corridor, our scope of works moved far beyond simply upgrading the original single track. We laid two state-of-the-art, parallel electrified tracks meticulously designed to cater for advanced electric trains operating at speeds between 140 and 160 kph, effectively cutting average travelling times by a staggering two-thirds.

Engineering a Seamless Rail System

To ensure the resilience and efficiency of this massive infrastructure, we executed a comprehensive design and construction programme that included:

• Extensive Civil Works: Boring two complex railway tunnels and erecting an array of bridges, alongside extensive land and marine viaducts.
• Modern Transit Hubs: Constructing seven major stations and numerous new community stations to enhance local accessibility.
• Vital Support Infrastructure: Developing centralised control centres and a dedicated, high-capacity maintenance depot.
• Advanced Systems Integration: Executing the complete electrification of the tracks and installing cutting-edge signalling systems for optimal safety and performance.

Driving a National Multiplier Effect

The successful completion and operation of the EDTP have generated a tremendous economic multiplier effect for the nation. Since it began transporting passengers back in 2008, the line has reliably handled more than 20 million passengers each year.
