Gamuda Australia

Gamuda Australia

Gamuda Australia is part of the Group’s strategy to expand and diversify its construction business in the region. Australia is a key market for Gamuda and is now the company’s largest overseas base, with offices in Sydney and Melbourne. Trading under Gamuda Australia, the business is fully backed by Gamuda Berhad.

The local offering focuses on infrastructure design, construction, operation and maintenance. Gamuda’s global track record in delivering major transport infrastructure projects makes the business well-placed to bid for the current pipeline of public works funded by the Australian government’s AUD120 billion Infrastructure Investment Programme.

The team has grown significantly since arriving in March 2019. Local hires complement the skills and experience of the Malaysian team members. In 2022, we acquired Tunnelling Solutions, which offers comprehensive tunnelling and delivery capabilities and a team of 200 skilled professionals with extensive experience in tunnelling projects worldwide.

Strategically expanding into the energy market, Gamuda Australia teamed up exclusively with Rohas Tecnic Berhad’s subsidiary, HG Power Transmission, to bid for and build transmission projects. This aligns with the government’s target of connecting renewable energy to the national grid.

In the long term, we aim to become a leader in the infrastructure and construction sector by offering innovative, breakthrough and dependable solutions for large-scale public infrastructure projects and private investment opportunities.

We partner with local communities, including Indigenous groups, sharing knowledge, generating local employment and creating opportunities for education and training. This includes launching the Tunnelling and Infrastructure Academy (TIA) in Clyde, New South Wales in 2023.

Through its property division, the Group has also successfully ventured into Australia’s real estate market. Gamuda Land, established in Australia in 2015, developed 661 Chapel St. and The Canopy on Normanby, and is now breaking ground on Fareham.
