Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Metropolitan Yellow Line Package YC01
Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT)
Metropolitan Yellow Line Package YC01
Driving Kaohsiung’s Yellow Line Expansion
Building upon our successful delivery of the award-winning Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Orange Line in 2008, a new chapter in Taiwan's urban mobility is unfolding. The Taiwan Kaohsiung City Government’s Mass Rapid Transit Bureau has awarded us the Kaohsiung MRT Metropolitan Yellow Line Civil Engineering, Package YC01.
Marking our third railway and sixth major infrastructure project in Taiwan, this development reinforces Gamuda’s reputation as the region's premier partner for complex transit solutions. To execute this vision by 2033, we are leading an 88:12 joint venture with Asia World Engineering & Construction Co. (AWEC), taking a commanding 88 percent lead representing a contract value of RM3.03 billion for Gamuda.

Delivering world-class transit through densely populated urban districts is a significant engineering and logistical feat. For Package YC01, our comprehensive design and construction scope moves beyond standard rail development to carefully navigate the NiaoSong District:
Arriving over 15 years after the city's pioneering Red and Orange Lines, the wider 22.8 km Yellow Line is a crucial, long-awaited addition to Kaohsiung's four-line MRT network.
Integrating flawlessly with existing metro, light rail, and mainline services across a total of 23 stations, the complete Yellow Line will fundamentally transform how the city moves.
Upon completion, it will significantly improve connectivity for over 1.16 million people, serving more than 40 percent of the city's total population. By alleviating congestion, it will actively enhance daily life and drive sustainable growth across the six key economic districts of NiaoSong, SanMin, LingYa, XinXing, FengShan, and QianZhen.
- Dynamic Alignment: Constructing a highly complex 4.4 km alignment, comprising 3.5 km of underground twin bored tunnels seamlessly transitioning into 0.9 km of elevated tracks
- Modern Transit Hubs: Delivering four state-of-the-art stations, three stationed deep underground and one positioned above ground, designed for optimal passenger flow
- Critical Subterranean Works: Engineering two vital crossovers and necessary cross passages to ensure the utmost safety and resilience of the underground network
