Beneath the bustling streets of Sydney’s North Shore lies a piece of critical infrastructure that has slept since 2014. Originally built in 1936, the Ryde to Pymble pipeline is being restored to meet the demands of one of Australia's fastest-growing regions.

We are partnering with McConnell Dowell to deliver this AUD157 million (approximately RM428 million) upgrade, on behalf of the NSW Governments state owned corporation Sydney Water, to modernising this essential link while navigating the complexity of dense urban environments.

Laying over 10 km of DN900 water main from the Ryde Pump Station to the Wahroonga Reservoir is a significant logistical feat. To navigate this corridor, we are moving beyond traditional open-cut methods where possible.

A combination of open trenching and trenchless construction methods will be used to minimise the footprint of our works. This approach allows us to weave through the community effectively, preserving the daily rhythm of the suburbs above while we rebuild the network below.

Once complete, the pipeline will strengthen Sydney’s water network and enhance support for the Ryde and Prospect North systems, which supply more than 1.6 million people across Sydney.

This isn’t just a pipeline; it is a critical upgrade that supports the NSW Government’s housing agenda, strengthening the Ryde and Prospect North systems, as well as enabling the delivery of new homes in key growth areas.
