Diversifying the Region's Water Footprint
The vulnerability of relying on a single raw water source for the entire Klang region is a risk that this project is designed to eliminate. The Sungai Rasau Water Supply Scheme serves as a vital diversification strategy for Selangor, introducing a second, resilient source to the state's water network. By transforming ex-mining ponds in Puchong into a high-capacity intake system, we are using innovative engineering to turn legacy land into a critical resource for the modern population.
As the main contractor for this scheme, we are delivering a sophisticated network that includes the Rasau Intake and a state-of-the-art water treatment plant. To move the raw water to the facility near Tanjung Dua Belas, we are implementing a massive twin pipe system spanning 2.4m in diameter. This route requires crossing some of Malaysia's busiest transport corridors via specialised overhead bridges at the Elite and SKVE highways. The treatment plant itself integrates advanced SCADA and instrumentation technology to process clean water daily, ensuring that both industrial and domestic demands are met with absolute precision.
This scheme is a major step forward for the state's infrastructure, as the production of 700 million litres of clean water daily is expected to boost the water reserve margin to 20.9 per cent. Our work on this project has set new benchmarks in digital innovation and safety, resulting in a series of national and regional awards. By securing this secondary supply, we are providing the long-term stability required for the region's continued economic and social growth.
