Keelung Mass Rapid Transit Systems and Trackwork Project

Advancing Taiwan’s Urban Rail Connectivity

Gamuda continues to expand its presence in Taiwan with the award of the RM3.72 billion (NTD 29.22 billion) Keelung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Systems and Trackwork Project by the New Taipei City Government.

Delivered through an unincorporated joint venture between Gamuda and Taiwan-based MiTAC Information Technology Corp., the project involves the design and build of trackwork and systems across a 15.6-kilometre alignment serving 13 stations across Taipei City, New Taipei City and Keelung City.

With Gamuda holding a 72.84% majority stake, the project builds on the Group’s established experience in delivering complex rail infrastructure and integrated transport systems in Taiwan.

The project is one of the designated additional works to the Xizhi–Donghu Line, which was awarded to the Group in 2024.

Comprehensive Trackwork and Systems Integration

As the main contractor, project scope includes the design and build of the following components:

  • Trackwork: 15.6 km
  • System works: Rolling stock, power supply, signalling, platform screen doors, communication system, central monitoring system, automated fare collection, depot maintenance equipment
Supporting Taiwan’s Expanding Rail Network

The Keelung MRT Systems and Trackwork Project forms part of the wider development of Taiwan’s urban rail infrastructure.

Building on the Group’s experience in integrated rail systems and trackwork, the project further strengthens Gamuda’s role in delivering multidisciplinary railway infrastructure in the region.
