Gamuda’s joint venture with John Holland has officially delivered the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace: Black Hill to Tomago package for Transport for NSW (TfNSW) ahead of schedule. This milestone marks the completion of Gamuda’s first road project in Australia since establishing its local presence in March 2019, reinforcing the Group’s long-term commitment to Australia’s national infrastructure pipeline.

The new 10-kilometre section of the road from Black Hill to Tomago forms part of the broader M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace, featuring a 2.6-kilometre viaduct over the Hunter River and floodplain, the Main North Rail Line and the New England Highway.
As part of the wider M1 Pacific Motorway extension, a continuous 15-kilometre link between Black Hill and Raymond Terrace is on track to open to traffic in September 2026, delivering immediate benefits for motorists travelling to and through the Hunter region. Jointly funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments with a combined investment of AUD2.24 billion, the project will see most interchange movements available from opening, with the remaining connections at the Tarro interchange progressively opening in the following weeks.
