Gamuda Engages with UK-Based Malaysian Talent: A Strategic Imperative
The United Kingdom remains a prominent destination for Malaysian students pursuing higher education, with approximately 10,000 individuals embarking on this academic journey annually.
Recognising the significant potential within this cohort, Gamuda recently participated in two key UK career events: the Scotland’s Malaysian Career Summit in Edinburgh, organised by the United Kingdom and Eire (Ireland) Council (UKEC), and The Malaysian Career Fair in London, hosted by GRADUAN.
These events provided a valuable platform to engage with ambitious graduates poised to contribute to Malaysia’s continued growth and innovation.
Focused Talent Acquisition in the UK Market
Our presence at the UKEC summit in Edinburgh was particularly deliberate, enabling us to access a highly qualified talent pool across the UK, in particular the untapped Northern UK university system.
This initiative aligns seamlessly with Gamuda Land’s expanding presence to develop the City Wharf, a landmark PBSA (Purpose Built Student Accommodation) scheme in Glasgow, Scotland.

A Sustained Priority to Nurturing Malaysian Professionals
Gamuda’s long-standing partnership with GRADUAN since 2000, emphasises our support for Malaysian talent. These roadshows, conducted both domestically and internationally, provide a crucial avenue for connecting with motivated graduates and prospective employees.
This collaborative effort with GRADUAN and UKEC facilitates engagement with Malaysian students from leading institutions such as Imperial College London, London School of Economics, University College London, University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, University of Bristol and University of Manchester.
Bolstering Gamuda’s Talent Acceleration Programme
Participation in these career fairs is integral to Gamuda’s talent development programme, designed to cultivate a robust pipeline of high-potential employees.
Being among over 20 prominent Malaysian and international organisations, including EPF, Khazanah National, Maybank, PwC and EY, reinforces our emphasis on providing compelling career opportunities within the domestic landscape.
A Successful Engagement
The events proved highly effective, attracting over 100 students in Edinburgh and an impressive 4,700 in London, representing diverse academic disciplines, from engineering, computer science, business and legal studies.
We were pleased to extend conditional employment offers to promising candidates, contingent upon the successful completion of their academic programmes.
Senior Leaders Connect with Future Talent

A notable highlight for prospective graduates was the opportunity to interact directly with Gamuda’s senior leadership, including C-suite executives who some of them are themselves alumni of prestigious institutions such as Imperial College.
This direct engagement fostered meaningful connections and provided valuable insights into career pathways within the organisation.
Adapting to Evolving Trends: Embracing Digitalisation
While we have observed an increasing interest in electrical and mechanical engineering relative to civil engineering, this trend reflects Gamuda’s commitment to investing in digitalisation and expanding our talent pool across a broad range of disciplines, both within and beyond the STEM fields.
A Holistic Approach to Talent Development

“Our people are our greatest asset. We invest in their development to create leaders and experts who can shape our future.”
By connecting with talents at these UK career events, we’re not just filling positions; we’re building relationships and building a skilled and adaptable team. We’re eager to have these promising graduates grow with Gamuda.
