Gamuda and DT Infrastructure JV commence construction on Richmond Road Upgrade project

The NSW Premier Chris Minns officially marked the commencement of construction on the Richmond Road Upgrade project, with a special sod turn event on Monday 23 February 2026.

The project was awarded to the Gamuda and DT Infrastructure (DTI) JV by Transport for NSW in October last year to deliver critical road upgrades between the M7 Motorway and Townsend Road.
The Premier, who was joined by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Western Sydney, Prue Car, the Minister for Roads, Jenny Aitchison, and other dignitaries, remarked how significant the project was for the people of Western Sydney in providing for their future transport needs.
“This is exactly the kind of practical infrastructure we’re focused on delivering to support growing communities in Western Sydney,” said Minns.
“Richmond Road is a critical corridor, with around 89,000 vehicles using it every day. These upgrades will cut travel times, reduce pressure on local roads and make daily trips safer and more reliable. They will mean less time stuck in traffic and more time spent with families.”
The Minister for Roads, the Hon. Jenny Aitchison added:
“We are delivering the road infrastructure western Sydney needs to keep pace with rapid growth and rising traffic volumes,” said Atchison.
“Growing communities, including those in North West Sydney and the lower Blue Mountains who rely on Richmond Road every day, will benefit from safer journeys, reduced congestion and more reliable travel times.”
Members of the project team were pleased to host the Premier and delegates on site to mark the start of major works.

“Delivering our third critical road project for Transport for NSW is a major achievement,” said Jarred Hardman, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at Gamuda.
“This partnership highlights the excellent work our teams continue to do, and we’re excited to deliver this vital piece of infrastructure for Western Sydney.”
DTI NSW Operations Manager, Con Boutsikakis, was excited to mark this milestone.
“In partnership with Gamuda, we are proud to be delivering critical road upgrades that will bring long-term benefits to the people of Western Sydney,” said Boutsikakis.
“We have a strong track record in delivering complex road infrastructure and are excited to see our scope of works improve this important road network, to make all road users’ journeys safer and more efficient, while connecting communities.”
