Upper Padas Power Sdn Bhd (UPPSB) has accepted a letter of notification from the Energy Commission of Sabah for the Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project, with an installed capacity of 187.5MW, located in Tenom and Sipitang, Sabah.
The Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project is expected to achieve a Scheduled Commercial Operation Date by the end of 2030. In addition, a hybrid floating solar plant will be integrated into the reservoir area.
Gamuda Berhad entered into a joint venture with Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (SEC), and Kerjaya Kagum Hitech JV Sdn. Bhd. (KKHJV) on 30 October 2023, forming UPP Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (with a shareholding of 45-40-15 between Gamuda, SEC and KKHJV, respectively).
Its immediate wholly-owned subsidiary – UPPSB – will design, construct and operate the Ulu Padas Hydroelectric Project through a 40-year Power Purchase Agreement to be entered with Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd.
