389-acre Data Centre Campus Breaks Ground in Negeri Sembilan

Gamuda Signed MoU with MBINS for Water Treatment Plant For the State

Gamuda Berhad (Gamuda) and the Negeri Sembilan State Government commemorated the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Port Dickson’s Data Centre Infrastructure Hub. The ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Aminuddin bin Harun, Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan.

This follows Gamuda’s wholly-owned subsidiary Gamuda DC Infrastructure Sdn Bhd sale and purchase agreement with West Synergy Sdn Bhd on 30 December 2024 to acquire 157.71 hectares (389 acres) of freehold agriculture land for RM424.4 million cash to develop world-class cloud and data centre infrastructure.

On top of the groundbreaking ceremony, Gamuda and Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan Incorporated (MBINS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), represented by Dato’ Azmi bin Mat Nor, Gamuda Berhad Executive Director and Dato’ Haji Mohd Khidir bin Majid, Negeri Sembilan State Finance Officer cum MBINS Managing Director.

Under the MoU, Gamuda will construct a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with a capacity of 65 million litres per day. The WTP will not only serve as the main water supply for the data centre in Negeri Sembilan, most importantly 25 percent of the WTP’s capacity will be allocated to the people of Negeri Sembilan for their domestic use, providing a reliable water supply for the State.

The remaining capacity will be allocated for data centre operations to ensure uninterrupted service. The asset and land will remain under MBINS.

The construction of the WTP is strategic and complements the data centre project to ensure that the facilities can operate optimally. Importantly, this is a proactive step to ensure water security for the state with reliable clean water supply in Port Dickson and the surrounding areas, reducing the rate of water supply disruption here.

This is a win-win partnership between Negeri Sembilan State and Gamuda. Gamuda’s investment is an excellent example of private investment can be aligned with public interest to bring long-term benefits to the people and the State.
