Gamuda bags two major project wins in Taiwan worth over RM4.2b

GAMUDA Bhd has secured two infrastructure contracts in Taiwan totalling RM4.28 billion, strengthening its presence in the market with its eighth and ninth project wins to date.
The latest contract, awarded on June 30, is for the construction of wharf and connecting roads (Bridges) for the Kaohsiung Port Intercontinental LNG terminal construction project.
The job is valued at RM3.72 billion (NTD25.58 billion) and was awarded to an unincorporated joint venture, with Gamuda holding a 70% majority stake and Dong Pi Co Ltd holding the remaining 30%. The project is scheduled for completion in five years.
The scope of works under the LNG terminal project includes the construction of 2.193km of seawall comprising 87 caissons, 1.2 kilometres of connecting bridge, a 729-metre wharf, as well as platforms including unloading, connecting and turning platforms.
It also includes caisson docks such as a berthing dock, mooring dock, service platform and vehicle access platforms.
Earlier in March this year, Gamuda secured the 345kV Gangfeng-Zhongke, Zhongke-Hengshan underground transmission line civil engineering and auxiliary E&M system design-build (third section) project, worth RM557.2 million (NTD3.83 billion).
The contract will be executed through a 50:50 joint venture between Gamuda and Feng Shun Construction Co Ltd, and is expected to be completed within 44 months.
The design-and-build contract covers civil engineering and auxiliary electrical and mechanical system works, including the construction of four shafts and a 3,208-metre cable tunnel.
Gamuda said these back-to-back project wins reinforce its strong reputation and capabilities in Taiwan’s infrastructure sector.
“As a key player in Taiwan’s development since 2002, Gamuda brings global expertise and a collaborative approach in its projects,” the company said in a statement.
The group’s portfolio in Taiwan spans across transportation, marine structures and utilities, including the Kaohsiung MRT orange line and yellow line, TaoYuan City underground railway, Xizhi Donghu MRT, Guantang marine bridge, Seawall-Taipei port and the 161kV Songshu to Guanfeng underground transmission line. — TMR
